Apart from the fun I am having, creating of EA-PopCap hybrids, today's news is not entirely unexpected. We already knew that PopCap Games in talks with a company was interested in The casual games developer for a cool billion purchase. Even if you fire the House zombies, unicornsand jewels had built your money on Electronic Arts, I doubt that you have a jackpot big enough to your own PopCap Games buy hit have.

Electronic Arts announced today that they have bought PopCap Games for more than a billion dollars in bar and shares. EA CEO John Riccitello seems pretty happy:

EA and PopCap are an irresistible combination. PopCap's peg large Studio talent and powerful EA after $ 1 billion speed dynamic addition and our aspiration digital business. EA global Studio publishing network help and quickly expand their business to other digital devices, more countries and more lines PopCap.

PopCap seems games CEO David Roberts in his pockets satisfied... what with the cash:

We took EA, because it around their culture make great digital games have recast. Scale cooperation with EA, we are our games and services, more social, mobile, casual to deliver fun to an even wider, global audience.

More information will certainly come from EA investor call today evening, but until then, mixing of EA and PopCap franchise in the comments. Me? I just hope, EA not swallow PopCap to and destroy their talent as she took a while back with PlayFish.
