click to enlargeWe all know that talk about monkeys, typewriters and Shakespeare. And it is undeniably true that in the face of world enough and time, all failed game could be made perfect. Well, almost every game.

But when the operation flashpoint: Red River, there are so many small muzzle flashes of brilliance, that it is hard not to think about which it would have been game. It could be something fresh and edgy in an otherwise stale genre. It could be a surprisingly open and honest modern military shooter. It could be one of the best available co op experiences. It could be one of the most ambitious and open FPS games on the market have been.

As it stands now, unfortunately all the big promises in the Red River is balanced by an equally large disappointment. For example, environments are open, but your movement in these environments is limited by a steady stream of checkpoints. Red river stresses slow and methodical game play, but it gets even more slowly paced film sequences down pulled. The game is for realism, but the images are distractingly ugly. Cooperative game is a pleasure, but there is too much time spent nothing to do. And so on.

Set in a fictional near future conflict in the middle of a real historical setting, provides the campaign players in a complex political stance, which protect the history of the most other military easily surpasses. Simply put, Tajikistan is home to a terrorist group, which incites a war between the United States and China. While this familiar, that may sound, which played modern warfare 2, it attracts more Codemasters from much sent than Infinity Ward ever could. There are the small touches and nuances that it works. It is transferred to the small battles that fit in the larger conflict, how your small squad plays a crucial tactical role in his own little corner of the conflict.

That pre-rendered movies that introduce each level are first class on voice acting, writing and visuals. Story is set in, but once on the ground. Sense of urgency while you sit FOBs, IEDs, the ETIM locked, forced on an idiot drone on and over ten minutes on and listen to the PLA and much exposure in level is by a foul-mouthed and lengthy Commander, completely break the tension redirected. (Oh, STFU.)

click to enlargeBecause so much of the game go slowly and carefully in the silence already issued will bring the exposure slow sections the pace of the game to a screeching halt. The sequences offer nothing for you strategically; They are simply a form of really sloppy, boring and unnecessary exposure.

Once the exposure begins in-game movies, fighting the (excellent) pre-rendered cinematics over past (terrible). Are the radial squad command menu and co-op-gunplay, but they really deserve a better package than this. Enemy AI is script, Call of Dutystyle, so that there is not much in the way of the replay value. And when you play solo, the AI squad is unpredictable, if you constantly stay commands over it with your team. Say "over and over again every few minutes follow" gets old quickly.

However, it is in the Red Rivera total visual presentation that is suffering most from it. For a game that so much emphasis on spotting enemies and carefully looking through connections and villages is, Visual problems relate it more than they would to other games.

Enemies are often very difficult to identify. I know the game is for realism, but there's nothing particularly realistic about a big grey BLOB shoot me from 50 metres away. Textures and objects have terrible pop-in, and enemies to open in consist of the blue which from time to time. There are many other minor graphical glitches, which taken alone are not bad, but she added, seriously interfere with the overall experience.

click to enlargeBecause Codemasters this around the four players cooperative experience built, there no competitive multiplayer - not in the form of squad versus Squad also fight. Single-player feels is cold and boring, no. thanks Jeep rides the overlong exposure heavy and long, slow running until are empty. While cooperative game helps the gaps to fill, it has the glitches or scripted enemy AI fix.

The idea of an open, multi-squad, strategic, cooperative shooter is incredible, and during this short bursts when Red River together is - especially when playing with friends - there are many games like it. But there are so many questions, big and small, have overlooked a lot error to enjoy it. If only I again longer, stick the CD in the oven for a little while might as operation flashpoint: Red River is clearly not finished cooking.
