What is the price of immortality? In many stories, protagonists or antagonists have dreams to be immortal. So what happens if someone who is not suddenly expected is untötbar? Would be for a good video game, whereas that die a lot which is most of the games? I had the chance to sit down with creator Shinji Nojiri on the Konami booth at E3 about his latest game, NeverDead, to talk and get some answers!

click to enlargeNeverDead is a story about the death. Pryce is a Demon Slayer, lived 500 years ago and saw his wife, also a Slayer, die in the hands of the enemy. Ill grief, Pryce goes on a rampage and in a twist of fate lands always infused with magic by an enemy demon and enabled this immortal. Fast forward to today, and he is created purpose to fight hell's army on the life and hunting to demons as part of AGA, an agency. He has even a partner who shares his unique powers not unfortunately.

The catch is immortal is, that Pryce die can not, no matter how badly his body gets disfigured. In a kind of Stubbs the zombie twist he can dismember even himself and his limbs in the defense. For example, an tear-off arm is an explosive projectile that can disable a group of enemies in a pinch. The coolest part of the body is far but Pryce's PEAR, the launched distances to the explore and spy on enemies can be.

Parts of the body work always as weapons, either not. Create if Pryce chooses, he can the rest of his body from the an ejected limbs, new so a jump on enemies. This ability was not really used during the E3 booth demo, so I do not, the extent of which could see it, but saw it very useful.

He has access to an array of weapons and melee weapons to create that mashing around the levels more damage than just button can be used in conjunction with his limbs to combos. How your sword slashes is controlled directly from the analogue sticks, and proved deadly during the demo - at least against the relatively unintelligent enemies who do not much other than run on Pryce (and her death).

Pryce can integrate in his arms, such as electricity from a light pole, the elements, and use it against enemies or as a puzzle solving tool. The elemental absorption was with fire during the demo, and proved to be really explosive. Nojiri pointed out that there are more elements in the game when it comes to retail. A can only hope that we creative get used for these powers and not just a simple earthquake for Earth or tornado for wind.

The level by which Nojiri has me was a museum. He mentioned that levels are linear and destruction you cause you permanently, is as long as you are around. The mission was to infiltrate the Museum, which was apparently acquired by demons. His choice of entry within throw Pryce's head and his body was by their regrowth, but Nojiri said that there other ways to the inside.

He was boss character to an armored-clad that defeat Pryce's explosive weapons needed. Shinji Nojiri pointed out that bosses in NeverDead are quite large and requires intelligent use of Pryce's special powers. I hope these powers only, stay relevant and go beyond gimmicks that are picked up and used only once or twice during the game.

In multiplayer, Konami, provides that that rewarded no information on modes or number of players, only to mention that cooperative is it and competitive modes, experience points and be let select players from a varied catalogue of characters, including Pryce. As I Nojiri asked if only one person Pryce won, said, that each Pryce could bring if they wanted to. Who would ever want to play as someone else? Maybe is not the only man with special powers? Nojiri held his mouth closed and not too deep with his answers.

Konami has an interesting concept for a game in NeverDead. I hope to develop it as only a darker, grittier and much less sympathetic of Stubbs the zombie. Nojiri promised that later builds of the game as it approaches release is exposed more information. NeverDead is set in 2011 for publication in holiday for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
