Walkin ' back: Rockstar says PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.61 is not overheating consoles

Rockstar Games caused a hell of a stir yesterday when is teorizado last update of the firmware of PlayStation 3, version 3.61, caused previous iterations of the hardware to overheat and block L.A. Noire.

The company has just released a joint statement with Sony support outside that assertion, however.

"We have received a very small number of questions of support to the customer on the PS3 overheating or turn off playing L.A. Noire," reads the statement. "At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm the update or L.A. Noire or firmware 3.61 are causing PS3 hardware to overheat." "We are both committed to work hard to find solutions to this and any problem that may arise."

A patch is currently in the works for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of L.A. Noire, aims to address various complaints of technical problems. As of this writing, there is no deadline for any patch.

Personally, L.A. Noire locked up my PS3 last night a couple of times. I had problems with my 60 GB PS3 in the past, however, that I have not been able to diagnose correctly, despite cleaning of dust.
