Sony had in an investor call today a "Splainin", Lotta. Investors have been questions why research and development costs were suddenly so high. Our first thought was due to the NGP, but then Sony's chief financial officer, Masaru Kato, said this:

For the home equipment the PS3 still a product life, but this is a platform company, for the future platform - when we will present what product will not I, that can - discuss, but our development work is already underway, so the costs are incurred.

Holy. Shit.

Sony PlayStation head honcho Kaz Hirai had a while back, said that the PlayStation 3 not even at its halfway point of the 10-year life cycle, and that the development of a new console had not yet started. I'm sure he was just people keep out keeps out the purchase of a new PS3 for a new, upcoming console.

E3 is just around the corner, but we would be very shocked to nothing via a PlayStation 4 it see. Sony has up the NGP for now, and we doubt that a new console debuted are far enough in development.

Who can really say, but. Nintendo will debut of a new console, and rumors have been on a new Xbox of floating. Perhaps Sony gefangenem wind these developments at an early age and decided to work on a new console to get a jump on the competition.

One thing is sure. E3 is just around the corner and tension is at its peak. Stick with GR all week during E3 for live up-to-the-minute coverage of the event.
