Here's the skinny, each week I'll go to my local Gamestop and buy a game under twenty dollars, I'll then write a lengthy review about the game, followed by a summary of rather you should skip it or buy it. I don't read video game reviews despite being on this site, I try to stay away from what people say, so I can form my own opinion on the game. Keep in mind these are my opinions, if I say something bad about a game you like, don't get butt hurt over it, it's just my opinion.

Today's Review: Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts - Price $14.99

I know this game didn't receive a lot of love from it's fanbase, but I think they're missing the point here. Mario Kart wasn't just another Mario game, it was a fun well made racing game, people accepted it for that. And that's the fundamental flaw here. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts gives use the closest thing we can get to a real Legos racing game and people seem to come away with the most sour face possible.

GAMEPLAY -

At it's core, this isn't a platformer at all. Any notion you had that Nuts and Bolts would be reliving the good old days needs to be gone now. This game is essentially a racing/puzzle/action game all in one, and by that I mean you're going to have to build the right vehicle for the job. The only limit is your imagination, and maybe a parts limit. Still, you're going to be experimenting with vehicles most of your time.

Your given a world map that you can explore similar to Super Mario 64, you enter worlds from set locations on the map. Upon entering, each world has it's own unique theme or gimmick. Notable ones are the 360 world, in which the world is themed like the inside of your Xbox, a world that combines all the original games levels into one giant map, and a host of other wacky themes.

The humor is top notch, and even for a game aimed at children, it still made me chuckle.

There is one fatal flaw to this game. After you've gathered enough parts and have had time to get use to building crafts, you're going to figure out how to build an end-all machine. Something that is basically a rocket flying helicopter/hovercraft. And you're going to get in the habit of using this for every level. Now you're probably asking yourself "Why is that a bad thing?" First of all, it become monotonous. This game is about creativity, and when you take that away and start number crunching to make the perfect vehicle, you kill the childlike fun of it.

So when you play this game, you shouldn't be thinking too hard because it's pretty much a breeze to get past. Still, you should always be making new vehicles, if you ever come to the point that I did, where you have the perfect all around junker. Delete it. Start fresh, make a new vehicle for each level. You'll never get bored that way.

SOUND -

The music ranges from upbeat happy, to the bosses almost Harry Potter themed soundtrack. It's all very well done to say the least.

GRAPHICS -

Very cartoony, but also well done. It's not something you're going to be star struck over, but it's a good look. Never noticed texture pop ups or anything that plagues modern games.

SHOULD YOU BUY IT?

This is a really good game, it's a lot like Diddy Kong Racing, except you get to build your vehicles. If you're a hardcore fan who hates everything about Rare post Conker's Bad Fur Day, then this probably isn't for you. But if you can see this game as something other than a platformer, then you'll grow to love it. It does have it's flaws, but it's a well made game and I feel like I got my money's worth.
