Assassin's Creed seems to have built up to this point, piling questions on top of questions, making gamers sweat while they waited for the secrets to be revealed. If you haven't finished the story up till now, you might want to take the weekend to get through Brotherhood to experience its cliff hanger ending.

If Assassin's Creed: Revelations can continue to iterate and improve upon the original vision, I'll continue to enjoy the yearly releases. I'm certainly invested in the story and characters, but a successful send off for Ezio would certainly make a new character or a return to Desmond a welcome addition to the franchise.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations will hit store shelves next week on November 15th for Xbox 360 and PS3. The PC version has been delayed to December. Look out for more coverage on GameRevolution and our verdict on the latest time-traveling action-adventure.

Let's say you're one of the biggest publishers in the video game industry and your biggest franchise has gone to yearly releases. In my mind, you'll need to be planning every game three years in advance. Script, engine, and development documents all need to be in order so that the game keep getting better. Of course, a real-world date playing a key role in your franchise will also dictate a few things.

That's why Eurogamer is reporting that Desmond Miles' Assassin's Creed epic will be ending in 2012 Assassin's Creed III. Creative Lead Alexandre Amancio explained:

In Assassin's Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012. That's fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point. It would be stupid of us to be centering a game on a semi-reality and then have that conclusion happen after that date in real life.

Let's just hope the world doesn't actually end so that everyone can play the game. The next Assassin's Creed adventure, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, will be available November 15th for Xbox 360 and PS3 and December for PC.

Around E3, Ubisoft released a brief trailer focused on the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Revelations story. It was full of Animus glitches and fast cuts and by fast cuts I mean Ezio slitting the throats of a couple thousand guards. The old-hand assassin is back and he's brought new meaning to the same old footage. Take a look:
With a successful multiplayer beta under its bomb belt, what else could the upcoming AC entry hold? We'll find out on November 15th when Assassin's Creed: Revelations is released on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

We're hotly anticipating the fourth entry in the Assassin's Creed series from Ubisoft, and I can't help but spoil the ending of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for everyone I meet. What the hell is wrong with me?

What the hell is wrong with you? Why haven't you finished the excellent continuation of Ezio's story? You'd better hurry because Revelations is about ready to wrap up the loose ends left behind by the Auditore clan. At PAX, Alexandre Amancio walked us through the Gamescom demo of the game. He dispatched guards by planting bombs on dead bodies, by throwing bombs directly at would-be pursuers, and by lobbing bombs like grenades.

Amancio explained that the bomb-crafting system was created to incentivize looting all the bodies and treasure chests Ezio will come across. In previous Assassin's Creed games, you could only sell the goodies you picked up off your victims, but collecting these materials in Revelations and proceeding to a bomb-crafting table will let you tailor your weaponry to your upcoming trials and tribulations.

Amancio quickly dismantled some bombs he had already constructed and used the materials to create new hand grenades that he could drop in the middle of a chase to slow down pursuers. The crafting menus loaded quickly and materials fluidly moved between one type of bomb to the next.

The Gamescom demo allowed Ezio to hunt and kill a Templar agent, though Amancio said that the particular Templar underneath Ezio's blade was brought forward simply to show off an Altaïr section of the game. Ezio is hunting these Templar and historical artifacts to experience pieces of Altaïr's life.

The demo then took us to a section of Altaïr's life before the events in Assassin's Creed 1. A Templar agent, confirmed for the game's multiplayer mode, had taken Altaïr's master hostage and the player had to scale a wall to save him. Amancio noted several different paths the player could take and then proceeded to parkour across the ramparts and land on the Templar agent, hidden blade at the ready.

Multiplayer mode improvements aside, Assassin's Creed: Revelations seems to refocus on the story, bringing several loose ends to a close, all while setting up the next in the fan-favorite Ubisoft series. You can preorder now and pick the game up at retail on November 15th, 2011 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

What do you think about the annual releases? Developers, fans and Guitar Heroescan really hurt a business model that flogs a franchise on an annual basis. While Ubisoft has been known to jump the shark in their press conferences, we'll at least want to keep our eyes pealed for the full Assassin's Creed: Revelations reveal. The final teaser trailer above confirms that the game will make it's debut at E3 2011 and conclude Ezio's story.

I'm a lot more interested in what's happening with Desmond and I'm probably all the more eager to see what's up with Altair after all these years. Satiate your curiosity with some prerelease concept art as we twiddle our thumbs until E3 2011.
