As it turns out, the online leak of information regarding the remake of the 90s title Syndicate is indeed true, as confirmed by EA and Starbreeze. The game is expected to be made available for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC is early 2012. This sci-fi first-person shooter is being developed by Starbreeze who is known for titles like The Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness.

Syndicate

As reported earlier, Syndicate will be set in 2069. It will take place in a world that is run by many syndicates striving for total dominance of their local market place. Three mega corporations – Eurocorp, Cayman Global, and Aspari, are at loggerheads to achieve power and play an important role in the American market. Gamers will play as Miles Kilo, Eurocorp’s latest prototype agent who will journey through a world full of ‘corruption and revenge.’

Jeff Gamon, EA Partners Executive Producer, stated, “Our goal with Syndicate is to provide a challenging action shooter for today’s gamers as well as fans of the original. I’m sure they will enjoy and recognize the legacy that made it such a classic. Fans of the franchise will recognize many weapons and environments in the game, but in a whole new way. The game also provides a separate and deep 4-player co-op mode featuring missions from the original cult classic, which adds another layer of depth to the overall experience.”

In the world of Syndicate, everything and everyone is digitally connected. A technology named DART 6 bio-chip will enable players to slow down time and breach the digital world around them. Variety of upgradable hacking mechanics would also be a part of this shooter.

EA and Starbreeze will be bringing Syndicate to the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC early 2012.

God opens the heavens, EA confirmed new mirror's edge

God opens the heavens, EA confirmed new mirror's edge

See, I said it, I'll say it again. I do not agree with naysayers mirror's edge. Always a point of contention with me. I loved the game. I was so happy that dice everything took a break from recording. People complain about the gunplay is terrible, but that was the whole point! I give the game error, but I'm very happy to hear that EA has confirmed work on a sequel to one of my favorite games in the last 10 years.

Conversation with Gamestar, EA Senior VP (hmmm, he sounds like he is responsible for something!) Patrick Soderlund confirmed that was working on a new mirror's edge project in progress:

I loved mirror's edge and what we indeed with me. We have given up not the franchise. And we are working on something, but I am not prepared to talk more.

This follows EA games label-boss Frank Gibeau affirmations, which were worked for mirror's edge 2 ideas. He also confirmed that the game of frostbite 2, battlefield 3would take advantage of beautiful new engine.

What do you see in an mirror's edge 2? What must EA and dice fix?
