The revelation that Batman: Arkham City's one-use code unlocks the entirety of Catwoman gameplay in the game's main campaign set back quite a few gamers looking to rent the game or buy used. GameStop feels your pain.

An internal memo verified with GameStop locations tells its retail staff that used copies of Batman: Arkham City should be paired with a code for Catwoman content printed on the receipt. All of this seems fairly counteractive to the online pass code itself, but GameStop is a huge corporation with some pretty strong ties with publishers.

We'll bring you more details as they become available. How many used copies of Batman: Arkham City will there be on shelves if the game isn't even out yet?

Rocksteady's latest superhero epic is set to release next week and most of us will be picking up the game as a brand new, cellophane wrapped disc complete with instruction booklet and more, but Batman won't take kindly to used games sales in the future.

With copies of the game making their way to the streets, Gothamites have found that Catwoman's gameplay both in the story mode and in challenge maps is locked to those who did not purchase Batman: Arkham City new or have not bought a VIP pass for $10.

DLC packs will also unlock Robin and Nightwing, but Catwoman has been heavily marketed as part of the game. Playing as the thief is not required to complete the game. Those playing the campaign without an online pass will see Catwoman in cutscenes but her gameplay sections are completely missing.

Cutscene Guidelines

I know its unnecessary to restate how much I like a good story in a video game, but seeing as a I parodoxically did anyways, I will gladly repeat: I love a good story in a video game (though I'll be sure to minimize how often I do so as not distract from my topics.)
