When you play a game at E3, you're most likely surrounded by people who are actually working on the game. Sometimes you can tell that they're studying what you're doing, almost like a mini-focus group. How do you play a game like that? The pressure is so intense! But it's times like these that you must channel your inner Batman, because with how much pressure Batman faces in Arkham City, that's nothing.
The story, as far as I can tell it, is set up as a detective story, one that's befitting of the Dark Knight. Yes, Arkham City is an open world and Batman has the ability to glide, grapple-hook, and dive his way across the city. He can battle thugs in the streets before heading inside a super-villain hideout. However, that doesn't mean the methodical investigation, exploration, and combat has been lost in the seedy Gotham City ghetto. Warden Quincy Sharpe has been elected mayor and he's walled off a massive section of Gotham to block off the thugs, hoodlums, and generally not-nice people from Arkham Asylum. Batman is out to find out why.
Rocksteady developer Dax Ginn sat down with me while I played a section of Arkham City he had shown previously at GDC. The demo started me off on top of a building where I was immediately instructed to walk off the edge and start gliding. When I saw a right bumper prompt, Dax told me to hit the button and double-tap the A button. This sped up Batman's grappling hook so that he would slingshot over the top of the building and continue his glide at a new height. With enough space between me and the ground, I was then told to push down with the left stick and hold the right trigger. This sent Batman into a dive, which I could pull out of by letting go of the right trigger.
With an enemy stunned and several others surprised, Batman then opened up with a long combo that instantly took me back to the challenge rooms in Batman: Arkham Asylum. I even performed a ground submission without being prompted to do so by Dax. His enthusiastic response made me feel like a badass, but that feeling comes with the new moveset Batman has in Arkham City. I was able to pull off triple-takedowns and triple-counters and everything in between, like a glide kick into a dive-bomb-chokeslam on a ground-level thug.
Rocksteady's blown everything from Asylum out to 11 with Arkham City. Whether you're measuring the city size or the number of enemies on screen, there's so much more for Batman to do. Of course, the developers behind this second outing recognize that you might get a little bored of staring at Batman's cape for 40 hours. That's why they revealed that Catwoman will be a fully playable character in Arkham City's storyline.
The feline anti-hero's moveset is varied enough from Batman's to feel different. Of course, a full departure from Batman would feel too disjointed so Catwoman uses her whip like Batman's grappling hook, although she's got more of a snap to ledges. The femme fatale can also leap and bound over the skyline and cling to walls. Within specific mission objective areas, she can cling to mesh ceilings for stealth. She's also got a mix of silent takedowns to dispatch guards.
The demo we were shown had Catwoman stealing from a vault that Poison Ivy had busted into. While Catwoman originally agreed to steal a rare plant, she's really out for her own ends. She dropped the potted plant on the ground and stomped it with her heel. You really can't trust anyone in Arkham City.
Rocksteady's been planning Arkham City for a long time. If it plays as well as it did at E3 and keeps the surprises coming, Arkham City will be well on its way to being a Game of the Year contender. With every demo of the game having character dialogue and every piece of gameplay looking better than the last, be ready for October 18th.More from the Game Revolution Network

The year 2011 is turning out to be dedicated to making gamers everywhere feel old. My favorite game in the world is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time . Tiger's junking schedules, accept physical boundaries
It was something of a running gag between the world's most famous golfer and perhaps the game's most notable dad.
Only half in jest, Tiger Woods has joked numerous times over the years that his late father, Earl, often used to call him a "slow learner."

Woods, who has labored for years just to get a goatee to grow in properly, showed up in the public eye for the first time in three weeks with something approaching a full beard on his mug.

The guy won 14 majors by being headquarters strong, immovable and determined. To win a few more he'll need to be more practical, sensible and pragmatic. At this point, he's got little to loose except some pain and suffering, because he hasn't won on the PGA Tour in nearly 21 months, anyway. No more trying to tough it out, like he did at the player, where he shot 42 for nine holes and what gone before lunch which served on the first day.
Woods all but jumped out of his chair and said, "A man has to learn his limitations," all Clint Eastwood-like. Minus the snarl and sneer.
"I have played in pain before, I have played injured and I have played through it," he said. "I have been very successful at it there have been number of years when I have been hurt more than people could possibly understand, and I have played and I have won."
"I just felt like it what good enough to give it a go, and I did, and I hurt myself." I have pushed myself enough times throughout the years and I keep kind of resetting myself, setting myself back... I felt this wasn't anywhere near that [level], but I hurt myself again.

At this point, there's no sense rushing back, anyway. Woods earlier this month missed the U.S. open for the first time since 1994. The day after it ended, Woods dropped two spots in the world ranking to no.. 17, where he still sits. Sits probably being the operative word here, given his condition.

Put in another jarring context, that what 68 PGA Tour victories and 14 majors ago. The British Open begins in exactly 16 days. Woods used to fly to the English Isles a week early to prepare for the season's third major. Now it's anybody's guess as to when, or if, he'll hop in the saddle at all.
Woods hasn't done much but his doctor-prescribed gym rehab work and a few putts since his WD roll from the Sawgrass event. Well, unless you count watching Dora the Explorer cartoon with his two kids, the sing-song theme caroming around his idle head.
"That song is brutal," he laughed.
Woods, clearly, is no longer a kid himself, and no longer can afford to act like one. Once 10 feet tall, Kevlar coated and impervious to all, he has played 316 holes on the PGA Tour in six months, finishing only four 72-hole events in all. If that pitiable tally doesn't change for a while, then so be it.
Like that annoying ditty from his kids' Nickelodeon cartoon series, Woods can hear the music.
More importantly, he's finally facing it, too.
Alice: Madness is - Xbox360 - GR-review
At the age of 11, I gifted was a copy of American McGee's Alice for PC - despite his'm ' rating - by my parents. I had to play it it looked, and I had about how cool everything looked, and how much I liked raved about the music. I had several years before my mother childhood copies of Alice's adventures in Wonderland and through the looking glass read, and American McGee's Alice was so beloved to me than my gold leafed, bound copies of these books.The point is to fervently hope, and then click more than one decade wait Alice: madness is, I am not in the least bit disappointed. My only regret is that the three-part mad Alice costume didn't seem in my childish size.
Alice: madness is absolutely is not in the category of bad sequel. About fire is terrible death in a House a decade after the original Alice again mentally the last events of her family. Rather than simply a nice revision of his predecessor 's insanity has an older, much more troubled young woman with a hell a fantasy - and an expanded wardrobe!
Wonderland is again in danger, as Alice is haunted by repressed memories of the fire and begins to question if their family was really random, as they previously thought. Reason, Alice must again their beloved Wonderland and collect their memories to discover the truth, visit their old "friends" and evil enemies with a new collection of weapons and abilities to destroy.
Every detail of the Wonderland and the "real world" has been designed very obviously lovingly and carefully. Within each chapter of Wonderland, the environment (and some enemies) all follow a specific theme - some of which are the mysterious East and a Dollhouse. No matter, the subject is always clearly and wonderfully disturbing.
Certain motifs are repeated and found in each area, but you are never left feeling as if you have walking through the center of the object for a long time. The different images to make Wonderland in size and a pleasure, to explore, massive feel. Much of the images can be compared loosely based on existing creations on Alice's adventures in Wonderland, but this creation is unquestionably original and complex.
During the entire Alice: madness is, there are a whole lot of platforming. With the addition of a powerful jump and floating ability is less a nightmare as Alice's last trip to Wonderland (when it was also perhaps only as difficult 11 because I was). However, many of the platforms are invisible and only shortly after the use shrink vision capability remain visible. This can be frustrating, but is challenging most of the time in a pleasant way.
A nice aspect of this feature: As soon as the platforms from point of view disappear, they are standing or frightening pit of something or other links often over a large dark abyss - all while also worrying enemy hot air is persecution. The effect is dizzying. I can only imagine how much more fun with fear of heights would it!

Other moments in the game action is the same - a jet of flame body without taking any health and so on shoot directly by Alice, Alice bonding not only the vorpal sword through her dress, but their entire forearm, enemies shoot out fireballs and hot tea on walls and running platforms a whim (perhaps Wonderland is to proved a burden for them?). The tone sounds terribly during cutscenes compressed. It distracts and detracts from the quality of the scene creative and delightfully dark. If these factors sound terribly you, fear not - that's all I have to complain. The quality of Alice: madness is is high, although it überhasteten sense. The qualities, the American McGee's Alice so well made - the bloody hack n slash combat, the beautiful design, rich dialogue, the menacing mood - are available and plentiful. The art book alone is value that check, even if you never so much as manage to see trailer for this game. If any of these qualities sound at all your cup tea, don't pass up Alice: madness is.
