Descripción: Halo 2 comienza justo donde lo dejó su anterior entrega, es decir con Halo destruido. El comienzo de la aventura para los dos protagonistas de la historia es bien distinto, mientras que el jefe maestro es reconocido por todos sus compañeros y condecorado por tan valerosos actos. El comandante al mando de las tropas del pacto en la toma de Halo durante el primer juego es tachado de hereje y castigado por ello.
Nuestra aventura comienza con el asalto del ejército del pacto a las diferentes naves de la flota terrestre durante una ceremonia de condecoración, el jefe maestro debe volver a la acción. Tras eliminar decenas de alienígenas en el interior de nuestra nave descubrimos que los aliados del pacto, han empezado una gran ofensiva contra la tierra, nuestro protagonista no se lo piensa dos veces y en una espectacular escena salta hacia el planeta para darle su merecido a los alienígenas del pacto.
La batalla en el planeta es espectacular y no nos deja un momento de respiro, muchas sorpresas nos esperan durante esta nueva batalla por el futuro de la humanidad, entre otras el descubrimiento de un nuevo personaje jugable o la localización de un nuevo Halo. Sin olvidar tampoco la amenaza Flood, esa plaga implacable que sigue siendo un enemigo muy importante.
Una nueva historia que desvelará más sobre este apasionante mundo en el que trascurre la saga Halo, secretos que se desvelan y nuevos enemigos que harán acto de presencia durante la aventura, como los alienígenas voladores o los grandes y poderosos Brute.
Jugabilidad: Halo 2 en su versión para PC conserva la tremenda jugabilidad que exhibía en Xbox, en esta versión para PC se ha adaptado de forma casi perfecta el control a las herramientas de manejo por excelencia de cualquier FPS que se precie para PC. Estamos hablando sin lugar a dudas del teclado y el ratón, es posible configurarlo totalmente a nuestro gusto, y el esquema de botones hace que tampoco necesitemos excesivas teclas para jugar de forma cómoda al juego. Además el ratón funciona a las mil maravillas pudiéndose ajustar bastantes niveles de sensibilidad como para que el manejo de nuestra arma sea totalmente precisa. Tal vez ,no sea tan rápido como en un juego programado expresamente para estos controles pero gracias a la configuración prácticamente no notaremos la diferencia.
La alternativa al clásico esquema teclado + ratón, la pone la posibilidad de poder jugar a Halo 2 como en sus orígenes ósea con un gamepad, a este respecto el mando de Xbox 360 “totalmente compatible con PC” se adapta a las mil maravillas y cumple a la perfección con un control a la altura de su versión original.
Jugablemente Halo siempre ha sido destacado por su velocidad y ritmo vertiginoso en los combates, todo es tremendamente fluido lo que hace que el juego además de ser muy preciso se convierta en una experiencia totalmente arcade dado su desarrollo. El jugador contará con las habilidades típicas de cualquier juego de estas características, saltar, agacharse, realizar ataques cuerpo a cuerpo, lanzar granadas pulsando un solo botón o apuntar con la mira de las diferentes armas, son algunas de las acciones que podremos realizar durante el juego.
El título conserva su espíritu totalmente arcade que aporta un ritmo trepidante a los tiroteos. Además se ha dotado de nuevas habilidades a nuestro protagonista, ahora es capaz de portar diferentes armas a dos manos al más puro estilo de las películas de John Woo disparando independientemente con cada una de ellas, realmente espectacular. Es algo que podremos hacer con cualquiera de las armas del juego que no requieran del uso de las dos manos para sujetarlas, además podremos mezclar el arsenal como deseemos. El único inconveniente lo pone el hecho de que mientras usemos dos armas no podremos lanzar granadas pero el potente poder de fuego doble suple esta carencia con creces.
Pero no queda aquí el capítulo de nuevos movimientos añadidos a nuestro personaje, ahora el jefe maestro es capaz de saltar sobre un enemigo que pilota por ejemplo un ghost, darle un golpe y hacerse con su vehículo. O subirse a la parte trasera de un tanque abrir un agujero a golpes y lanzar una granada a su interior para eliminar a todos los enemigos que estén dentro. Movimientos muy útiles a la par que espectaculares, pero cuidado el enemigo también es capaz de realizarlos.
Gráficos y Sonido: Uno de los apartados más polémicos de cualquier conversión, sobre todo si se distancia tanto en el tiempo desde el lanzamiento del original como es el caso de este Halo 2, es el apartado gráfico. Halo 2 para PC indudablemente luce mejor que la versión de Xbox, pero claro las diferencias no son todo lo amplias como cabía esperar y esto hablando de un título de 2004 y del lanzamiento de un shooter para PC, pues son puntos bastante importantes.
Halo 2 para PC quedaría ridiculizado si lo comparamos, por ejemplo, con juegos de nueva hornada que saldrán este año como Crisys, el cual sí aprovecha las nuevas características que aporta Windows Vista ya que utiliza DX10, cosa que Halo 2 no hace. Por otro lado, si lo comparamos con títulos que actualmente son punteros en el género en PC, Halo 2 tampoco aguanta el tirón, por lo que las comparaciones deberían limitarse a su propia saga, ya que llegar tan tarde supone aquí un bache importante para el título.
En términos de rendimiento Halo 2 no es un juego que pida excesiva máquina para funcionar, pero sí que pide mucho para lo que ofrece, seguramente gracias en parte por funcionar bajo Windows Vista, ya que el propio sistema operativo ya nos exige bastante del equipo. Aun así, es bastante flexible en lo referente a sus configuraciones gráficas por lo cual no debería de ser un obstáculo insalvable para ningún PC de gama media/alta.
En materia de sonido es otra cosa, efectos especiales, voces y música son aquí de sobresaliente, la saga Halo siempre ha tratado bien el apartado sonoro y esta conversión no es ninguna excepción. Eso sí, se mantiene todo tal cual se encontraba en el original.
